Har Har- Fmylife Joke & Etc.

Post Type: Short Excerpt, Picture Book

Buh buh buh, 3 times broken rule I've been down with BRONCHITIS the last week. You kids can kick me on the street.

So today is the Oscars- very excitedly waiting to see.

A picture of one of my favourite actress... come on Princess Giselle, you gotta win this!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok here's the Fmylife part- Friday Feb.22nd, well not really F my life, but yea... one of those moments.

Enersource buncha turds decided to cut our electricity after haven't received our payment in half a year- because they didn't send us no bill man.
So we went to this Chinese Restaurant (Name not mentioned) in Golden Square Mississauga.

Yayyyy, my cheap ass father rarely takes us out to eat, bro and I were happy =D

I was reading fmylife.com with all the "Today... FML" stuff while eating in the restaurant.

Here comes the "Har... Har" part...

When we were almost done eating...the table next to us gathered, and one of the guys asked “来点儿酒”
Translation: "Can we get some alcohol?"

服务员看了看...然后对他们说了一句我小弟开始闷骚的笑...我没听清,我问我小弟她说啥了

“酒装茶壶里,我们没有酒牌。”
Translation: "Beer is served in the teapot, we have no alcohol license."

Why did I have to be in middle of reading fmylife.com!!!!???? Fwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
=D=D=D=D=D=D

2 minutes later, the next door table was drinking beer out of a teapot in teamugs...............
FUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My Week in Review

Post Type: Picture Book

WOW I've TOTALLY violated this giant rule of "this blog shall be updated at least once a day".

Ok that's 2 violations so far, 3 times and anyone who glimps on my blog can boot me when they see me on the street.

Let's start with when I stopped blogging- Chinese New Year...正月初一
今儿已经大年初七了……

正月初二:Monday, February 11th.

School started again, I'm back to student teach at my beloved KCI. Hooray, free from teacher's college BS for another 7 weeks! This is amazing!

This block coming back, I'm teaching:
Grade 9 Academic Math
Grade 11 Academic Math... and *drum roll*... teaching can't get more fun than this...
Grade 10 Communication Tech (in place of my computer science course)! Boo yeah! All those artsy courses I've taken in high school is FINALLY paying off!

SO EXCITED!

正月初三: Tuesday, Feb 12th

Today my communication tech teacher has shown me one of the coolest things (ICT) that he employs with his students, it's an educational social network, with a design like that of Facebook but with so much more clarity and simplicity, almost perfect (for high school level and below) in both functionality and usability.

Edmodo

Pretty much started in 2009, it's catching on like fire in the educational community and currently has 13 million registered users (students and teachers).

As a young computer science teacher-wanna-be, I am so very highly energized by seeing that there are fresh-minded teachers who are not out-of-touch and exercising trendy techie education motives. It's not like, you step into a high school classroom, you go back 20 years in time sort of thing.

正月初四:Wednesday, Feb. 13th

Sometimes very little things can link you to think about a lot of things all at once.

My associate teacher is retiring next year, today after school she says she's gotta run to the hospital quickly. I thought she was visiting someone. She was going to deliver the class notes to the parent (who works in the hospital) of one of the kid in her class.
\
I don't know if the kid's parents care more about their kid. I certainly don't know with all the modern methodologies, structure, conformity to rules and regulations, that if we, the new generation of young teachers still remember the very virtue that drives the profession- care.

正月初五: Thursday, Feb 14th-Valentine's Day

KCI had an assembly today (apparently organized by students too). Very nice! First assembly I went to in an associate school.

Revolving back to technology and being up-to-date with real world rather than naively outdated. This is one of my fellow teacher's flip classroom model (refer to Khan Academy if you want to see it in practice in large scale)'s YouTube channel for videos that she filmed for the students so they can learn the basic content at home and come to school for more practice and enriching conversations and activities.

I am now a subscriber =]

正月初六: Friday, Feb 15th-Day Before Reading Week
People are storming out for reading week, which I have none. Misery of a working class. Have fun everyone. UW Davis Center has the usual reading week rush.

I'm feeling harder to swallow, maybe I'm getting a throat inflammation. I'm not drinking enough water clearly, my throat always dry and lips cracking. Must drink more water. Remember to drink lots of water everyday kids!

This day concludes end of my first week at KCI.

正月初七: Today, Saturday, Feb 16th

Oh my I'm finally all caught up with this blog.

My throat is burning and I can't stop swallowing every other seconds. FFFFF. I hope I don't get sick from swallowing too much. Ugh my throat burns.

Going to ski on Monday, bought a skiing jacket and a little boy's snow pants (pretty thin, for boys aged 10-12) for $40 in total "EVERYTHING AT WALMART!".

Sorry friends, I am not strong-willed nor ethical enough to reject 3rd world-cheap-rip-off-labour-produced-benefiting-industrialists-and-hypnotized-consumers-product Wal-Mart offers at an amazing price. Just the nature of my cheapness, sorry my fellow Asian workers in factories back home! Full respect!

Low-budget bootlag mockery film "Gems" I uncovered during New Years...

Post Type: Picture Book, List

I got a proxy =] from proxysolutions.net, now I can watch American Netflix! Yay!

Btw, I took a hiatus yesterday on this blog 'cause it was New Year's Eve

Today, while procrastinating on my past due assignment from Queen's and getting ready to teach tomorrow. I decided to show bro somethings funny on Netflix.

1....Look, somebody named a movie after me! (I'm made 1991, this movie is made 2011)

vs    , yea?

2....

 vs  , yea yea?

3....
  vs  , yea yea yea?

4....The princess is a black pearl even in the bootlag version...
  vs  , yea?

5.... Last but not least...

  vs  ......

The Metal Man movie is not on Netflix, but I saw it first on this Chinese movie pirating software called Funshion (when it was still good, aka when they didn't start removing movies off of it or limiting them to China Mainland only, etc.).

Would you like to add more? =D

Last Train Home- 我也赶春运- Tappy goes home to Sauga

Post Type: Picture Book

So, it's snowing like mad in Kingston.
If you can capture the snow blowing on a cellphone camera, that's some pretty bad snow. (In fact it's still going as I write)

So I cancelled my train today, can't get to the train station.
Train tomorrow morning it is.

We haven't got much food left nor much to do here, Laura + I.

I'm gonna convince her to watch this Chinese documentry about 130 million Chinese foreign village workers heading home to their small country sides for New Years from big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. It is these people's only time in the year that they go back to see the family.

Well... I'm stuck here too, sort of, you know, like, I can't go home yet, for New Years yet, involves train, and bad weather, and a lot of people heading back. (Everyone heading back for start of next practicum block at teacher's college.

We make ourselves comfortable in a snowing night. Laura and I working on our New Year Spirit Origami and Paper decoration cutting.

Some of our finished products.
Listening to my folksong PLAY LIST =] See here if you haven't already: http://tapshortblogs.blogspot.ca/2013/02/new-year-new-playlist-tappy.html
Boo yah!

After we are done, we will be watching the aforementioned MOVIE... mmmmm =)
This is gonna be a fun night to remember!

New year, new playlist! Tappy的春节气氛民歌歌曲播放列表

Post type: LIST

5 (or 4 I guess, by the time I'm done editing this post) days left until our biggest day in 2013! Excited, excited excited!

Notes:
  1. I AM (not one of, I AM!) the MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE Chinese folksong (native, older composed and contemporary) lover kid that is pure fan, and has no professional/performance association,  in my generation in the whole world. PERIOD.
  2. Googled 春节歌曲, songs found were... mmm... CD store speaker hits that every little bird knows, like...恭禧恭禧恭禧你...the list so...bleh... a disgrace to our lovely music and festival culture.
  3. Feeling like procrastinating on my bizillion school work that is due end of this week, I have compiled a GENUINE almost-all-folksongs Chinese New Year playlist that suits the various moods associated with Chinese New Years- Longing, belonging, love, family, togetherness, prosperity and happiness.
  4. Not all these songs are Chinese New Years related, but I find them to be quite good for the occasion.
  5. The singer is written beside the song, the singer is not necessarily the original singer of the song, but the version I quite like (or the only version I know)
  6. I like new things, so I try to put an emphasis contemporary folksongs and their singers.
  7. Most of these songs are in minor, I tend to LOVE minor melodies. They are not all slow though, there are many very cheerful, happy and fast songs in minor in Chinese folk music.
  8. The songs are not in any particular order. They are organized by singer.
  9. I try to stay away from melody soothing, tear-jerker/family love, remembrance songs such as 《疼爱妈妈》 (suggested listen, watch the MV too... I start bawling like an animal every time I sing this fxxkin song in karaoke...)
  10. AND NO, I'm not advocating for any political, kiss-ass means than my very fine culture and music!

BYE BYE PENNY!

Post type: Picture Book

Common topic today.

Bought this from the Mint... worth collecting friends, the last package of 50 collectible pennies.

Google celebrating the extinction too.

The penny goes out of circulation today across Canada.
Cash purchases will be rounded to the nearest 5 cent.

Charities working hard to cash in on the penny's demise- Maybe I should donate mine to Pathways.

To those that might be concerned, if you've ever tried selling Cutco knives, they are out of test subjects now that the penny is gone.

They used to use penny to test how sharp and well honed the Cutco scissors are by cutting around the edges of the penny to make a corkscrew.

Bye bye Mr.Copper coin! I'll keep some of you guys to show my grandchildren if I ever get them =]

What angers me the most about teacher's college...

Post type: SHORT EXCERPT

HEY FOLKS! It's Tappy here again, RANTING about how teacher's college gets me angry everyday.

Well, there's something today that has been bugging me since day 1, and it just suddenly hit me that "Are these people using online learning systems ..tarded?"

EVERY FILE WE OPEN say, course syllabus, or assignment outline, IS IN .DOC FORMAT! (I.e. I cannot view unless I have .doc compatible viewers such as MS Word, so my smart phone is a no no.)

Have you no clue how to convert things to PDFs? Or do you not know that there is this universally browser (even iOS) supported, "Open-On-the-Spot", document format? What has little Kingston drilled into your head, god!

Girls Night out

Post type: PICTURE BOOK

First of all- to all my friends, if you see this blog, please don't give me a lecture on what I should put on the internet and what I shouldn't. And don't think I'm naive because "oh they are so excited that they are drinking" so immature that they are putting it on the internet as if they are so proud of it. I know very well what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. The internet is a place of freedom, ideally, and I would like to have my space and can put whatever I want on it.

So I skipped my class today due to oversleeping...Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday.

Then in the afternoon we went to shopping at downtown Kingston:

Urban Outfitters, oh yah!

I bought a wacky phone case from Urban Outfitters =]

Then we went to LCBO to get booze, then Food Basic for some grocery shopping- think we might've bought a little too much grocery:
 &
Then we got home, I made coke chicken drumsticks, we also baked some. They were good. (No pictures cause I forgot to take them before we dug in)

Then we ate, and started our drinking- first time of real drinking for Laura. We are trying to turn her into an alcohol boss. LOL

We drank >30 shots of rum & coke.
T: 11 (1 super rum)
L: 9
C: 13 (2 super rum)

But we drank really slowly (over like... 4 hours)
We had a really good time, played various games. Games we played:
1. President (Clara drinks most)
2. 1 round of crazy eight (Clara drank)
3. Draw something (Tappy drinks most)
4. Finally, Black Jack (Tappy drinks most due to overflowing every game)

In the end, we feel pretty good, it was a fun night:

Final result =D. So we actually drank quite a bit:
2/3 of rum bottle
2/3 of Girls Night Out Pinapple
1 can of Stella Artois
2/3 of a bottle of coke
1/4 of the leftover Bolthouse juice

*Roommates are both in bed as I'm writing this:

Good night lovely ladies! Thanks for a wonderful Friday!
