Reflection coming back

Post type: Short Excerpt

And so, here I am, back in cold Canada, in my comfortable home in Mississauga, sitting in front of my computer on the dining table.

Gone from Atlanta, for a really long time, at least.

I am feeling very melancholic at the moment, even though I was only there for a couple weeks, but I lived like a peasant- someone who would live there normally- instead of a tourist. It felt like I was there for a really long time.

This experience has reinforced my dedication for the teaching profession. I had the chance to see what it's like to be living and travelling and experiencing different walks of life.

I think I like it.

I really like the southern culture in the USA, I think I'd like to stay there if I can in the future.

But that's all at the moment, feeling kind of numb. I will start updating my blog outlining my Atlanta adventure day by day starting tomorrow, when I'm more conscious.

Post Type: Short Excerpt

Currently happily writing from an ipad mini in the Apple store in Lenox Square. This is the second time I'm visiting this mall in my stay(I was here last Sunday too).

Just trying to test what kind of display for the blogging and some websites using a tablet gives me to make the final decision on whether to buy an Ipad Mini yet :). Also to report to the world that I am still alive and healthy after all these treats at uncle McD's.

This is where I am.

NODA wrap up and off to ATLANTA!

Post Type: Picture Book

So NODA was done, as of Sunday morning.

The actual talks themselves were pretty meh, standard leadership stuff that seemed almost very irrelevant. I heard there were some good talks, but apparently I picked the bad sessions so whatever.

The speaker Arel Moodie on Saturday was very cheerful and upbeat, really like that one. He came in in a bright pink shirt BOO YEA math! (Oh no, I didn't get a picture of him)

Later on, there were a bunch of sessions, details omitting, and since we got up at 6:30am, by the time the session started we were already getting tired and the first session was pretty boring- which everything was going well until I fell asleep and some muddafakka woman beside me decided to tell me that it's disrespectful to the presenters- like I don't know. And when I murmured to myself "it's so bad" AFTER I'd left the session, she decided to catch up to me and lecture me, says she's one of the conference hosts and follow up on me to the university that I came from- (not allowed to swear on this blog) wow, holy, bleep lady, this is a conference for goodness sake, I'm a frigging conference delegate. Sheesh, I can sleep in the hotel all day if I wanted, gosh, it's really not her beeswax.

So after she screwed over my expectation for the next 4 sessions, and I'm pretty sure I ruined her day by telling her it's really not her business in a confrontational way- omg I love confrontations- I zombied through the remaining sessions until dinner. (Behind these guys is a real botanic plant waterfall grown on the wall 3 floors high, it's amazing)

We had pasta dinner with not much sausage in there, but it was ok, not much to expect for a conference of pipsqueak importance like this to feed 200+ delegates.

Noticed some election going on at UG-Humber, with a lot of Mario themed stuff taped around...

Then there was the Safe Haven Charity talk, the boys are wheelchaired with speech/movement impairment and gave a tear-jerker talk, and everybody, in the spirit of the happy day was like, YEAH! AWESOME! OH MY GOD! Standing ovation. etc. Bah, seen too many of these to feel the sentimentality. We made them 4 panels of coloured papered hearts taped onto a wood-strapped canvas.

The game show after dinner was pretty fun, our "team" (I'm not officially in a team, but hung out with a couple buddies here and were rooting for this american boys + our own Jenny team of 5). We lost. Oh well.

We went back to the hotel and I fell asleep even though I wanted to go hangout with ppl in the other rooms. Apparently I missed some interesting after drinking stories. =[ oh well.

Then next morning we were gone. We took that photo before everybody left (I think Amanda left before the photo was taken). I have a shiny chest.

I bused back to Mississauga on a bus that I don't usually take. Namely route 3. It goes on Bloor, I used to live there 8 years ago. A short 20 minutes of awake time on the bus turned out to be more reflection that the whole weekend at NODA- but that's a story for another blog post.

And now... onto the next post about packing, leaving and getting excited for ATLANTA!

NODA day 1, blogger phone app day 1

Post Type: Picture book

So today was a busy day of mix of many things. But the kick start of my weekend has to be the orientation leaders conference that we are all going to called NODA.

I have to admit, as I arrived at the UGuelph at Humber building, I got quite excited for this.

Then I checked into our hotel- we actually get hotels, not student residences.

I really like it, especially its 5 elevators and the giant lights beside them.

The lobby is nice and roomy.

Restaurant... and bar that closes at 1.

Falling asleep on these very coushy bed, breakfast starts 5:30am, gonna catch ma sausages!

PS I hope the JUICE drinking and hangout guys have fun, I'm just too tired from sleeping 3 hrs last night, good night moon!

No Updates No Updates No Updates

Post type: Short Excerpt

GAHHHHHH! This is driving my conscience crazy. I feel soooooooooo guilty about not updating in > 1 week. Last time I had the excuse of catching the Bronchitis. This time around, yet another week, I'm down with some kind of sickness, AGAIN!

Well, here's cheers to the oxymoronic update of no-update.

So I've been sick... like, every other week since coming back to KCI this February. What is wrong with me, gosh, what happened to the good old times when I was a kid that I never got sick before? Terrible- all this sickness is making me want to be a nurse... can you believe it? My mother's a nurse... follow in her footsteps... oh gawd! Please no!
